These shifts in education policy, budget allocation, book access, school discipline, and school safety measures have direct consequences for students’ learning experiences. As parents, educators, and community members, we must advocate for an inclusive, well-rounded education that prioritizes student success, safety, and well-being.
✅ Attend school board meetings and ask questions about policy changes.
✅ Stay connected with teachers and librarians to understand how new book guidelines are being implemented.
✅ Speak up for special education programs to ensure students receive the support they need.
✅ Advocate for school meal funding to ensure no child goes hungry.
✅ Contact your local representatives and express your concerns about gun policies and corporal punishment in schools.

Our students deserve an education that prepares them for the real world—not one that hides it from them. Let’s work together to ensure every child, regardless of their background or needs, has access to the knowledge, resources, and support they need to thrive.

The most important step in change is being the change. Educating children at home about their rights, teaching respect for diverse cultures and individuals, and leading by example in inclusion, kindness, and advocacy lay the foundation for a just and compassionate future. At Elysian Fields Academy, we believe that young minds shape the world ahead, and it is our responsibility to equip them with the values and knowledge to create the world they deserve.
By taking these steps in an age-appropriate way, we build a generation of informed, empathetic, and empowered individuals who will shape a more inclusive world.
As military parents and spouses, we trust Department of Defense Education Activity (DODEA) schools to give our children a first-class education. Our schools excel through emphasis on not only high educational standards, but a genuine concern for the challenges unique to military life, and every child's social and emotional development and welfare as well. However, recent actions threaten this educational balance by removing specific books, clubs, activities, events, and elements of the curriculum from DODEA schools without adequate disclosure to parents, undermining the academic and social development of our students.
Our children embody some of the most diverse cultural backgrounds in the United States. Their resilience and strength is built through their families and a community that firmly believes that diversity is one of our many strengths. To disregard the proven value of cultural diversity and a comprehensive education would be a horrible disservice to our children.
It is imperative that the DODEA fully commits to transparency in all changes made to the educational resources. Furthermore, the recent banning of certain books from DODEA schools undermines the foundational belief of accessible and comprehensive education.
We consider any potential shift away from comprehensive and diverse education as detrimental to our children's growth and future. It is crucial to give parents the opportunity to oppose any changes that may negatively affect their children's learning environment.
Sign the petition to uphold transparency and parental involvement in our military schools' curriculum and resource access. We need your support, for the sake of our children's future, to ensure they continue to receive complete and diverse education.
